The Dutch Hosta Society's Summer Garden Tour !

Let's Go!

10.30 Saturday morning! We're in Stroe, The Netherlands!

visiting our first garden of the day Little Boskoop (click here) !

He said there were only a few hostas!

 One of them being Hosta ' June' !

 Another was Hosta ' Fortunei Aureomarginata' !

43 guests/members of  The Dutch Hosta Society enjoyed

exploring this 1.5 hectare garden! 

We followed the Oak tree lane to get to the ....

Exit! Time seems to fly by on a garden tour doesn't it !

Just across the street I spotted this giant hosta filled trough!

Where did they find one that size? 

About an hours drive east of Stroe lies the Dutch village of Ruurlo!

 Next stop ..... Cottage Garden in Ruurlo (click here) !

 1100 m2 sized garden, more than 525 different hostas!

And a great selection of hostas on offer! 

  Time for lunch! Soup provided and your own bagged lunch!

What a fantastic location!

All were re energized! Time for the afternoon programme!

The preparations! Lots of leaf variety this year!

 The beginning of June is sure looking great for Hostas!

 And of course, time to wander through this inspiring hosta garden!

 Soon it was 4 pm ! Time to chat, relax, laugh, Hosta Happy Hour!

The afternoon flew by here too!

What a hosta day!

We were on our way to Hilversum!

 Hosta ' June' as show plant!

 Must have been 28C in the shade!

Fransen Hostas at Hosta Paradise ! (click here)

To help promote the hosta...the friendship plant!

 During our 6th visit to " Strong in the Shade" plant fair there were familiar faces, new ones, lots of interest and laughter!  The volunteers at the fair in Oostvoorne were able to register three new members! Happy days !

A great day out!

 has their annual Summer garden tour!

First time back in 2018 !

 After 4 " what felt like a long winter, followed by an Easter being colder that Christmas" months, the weather was at an all time high for this time in April! Sunshine, blue skies, warm and 25 C ! Where's the sunscreen!? The volunteers made quick work filling the trailer with weeds! The dandelion's didn't have a chance! Looking good ! Next week's 10 degrees cooler with expected showers! Time for the hostas to get growing! Next month the volunteers will be back at Het Gazebo!
