More than 6 mm rain !

A very wet Wednesday morning indeed 

at Het Gazebo in Diepenheim !

So, the volunteers checked the terrain.

See how fast the hostas are growing !

Decided it was just too wet,

they headed to Cultural Centre The Pol (click here)

to warm up, dry out and enjoy coffee !

 

Frosty nights and weed free days !

With a cold start to spring the volunteers are ahead of the weeding at Het Gazebo ! There's time to take on a few other jobs this week such as searching for snails before they themselves enjoy the new hosta shoots ! The volunteers weeded around Monomet, collected the last of the leaves turning them to compost and enjoyed coffee and a new cake brought by one of the volunteers :)

Spring has sprung !

Snails have come out of their Winter hibernation!

One lone tulip shines with colour this morning !

Dandelions are taking root !

And taking root they are !

9 C in Diepenheim today !

Sure is better than that icy cold snow from last week !

All the leaves are composting !

Hostas shoots are becoming more and more evident !

The weeds are under control !

Het Gazebo is off to a great start !

It's the beginning of the meteorological Spring !

March 1st and Het Gazebo is so good as leaf free !

Where did they all go ?

To make compost of course !

Brrrr....cold ! It was a frosty start to the day! 

Warmed up to about 7 C when the ducks came for a visit !

Cake ? Yes, our volunteers do help out when needed

even when it comes to taste testing home made treats :)

FYI they were both good !

 

Signs of Spring at Het Gazebo !

Weeding Wednesdays have started !

The volunteers are back with plans!

They're going green this year 

and will be making leafmould !
Leafmould is formed from decaying leaves and produces an invaluable soil conditioner. The best quality leafmould is produced from the leaves of oak, beech or hornbeam. 

We know there is an abundant supply of beech leaves !

So they started today by raking leaves that revealed

A tulip, crocusses and the first hosta shoots !
