In todays local paper !

The hosta garden in Diepenheim,

NL Doet and the great work done by volunteers !

After enjoying last Friday's 9 degrees above the average temperature,

 and being the first warm day of Spring , it was cold this morning!

Brrr ! 5 C ! 

To add to that, w'e're experiencing a very bone dry March !  

But wait ! 

It's tulip time here !

The rain's coming, this is The Netherlands !

Warm weather will arrive !

 Hostas will soon fill these spaces !

Make plans to visit Het Gazebo in Diepenheim this year ! 

 

From -1 C to a high of + 15 C in Diepenheim !

After last weeks NL Doet volunteer day

todays volunteers could enjoy a leaf and weed free

Het Gazebo and the sights of new hostas !

And the yearly tulip appearance !

Blue sky, warming to  +15 C !

What a job !

Each hosta number borard has been removed.

This system couldn't be maintained after all those years.

Hostas have disappeared, been relocated

 and new ones replanted.

Plus they were more of a weeding hazard for the volunteers.

 The hosta borders still have their numbers :)

There's so much to experience at Het Gazebo !

Het Gazebo + NL Doet = Success !

This was the first time that Het Gazebo in Diepenheim

took part in the national volunteer activity NL Doet !

The sun soon cleared away the mist and with a high of 6 C

all the volunteers got to work !

The leaves were raked and soon headed to the compost area !

Holes were dug and a new beech hedge was planted !

Morning coffee break enjoyed outside !

The paths that cut through this abstract hosta leaf 

have all had a new layer of bark mulch !

Het Gazebo is ready for a great hosta growing year !

Feels like Spring !

Leaves are being gathered for the new compost pile

as last years compost efforts have worked !
