It's great to be back!

at Het Gazebo!
Volunteers from the Dutch Hosta Society and Het Gazebo team in Diepenheim were back at it today! It was great fun catching up with one another after the winter Hosta break! The plan today was to start preparing the beds for the growing Hosta year ahead! Hostas in plots 3, 9, 15, 19 and 21 were all dug up and split. Then they were replanted in a rejuvenated compost filled plot!

Sunny and dry! Great Spring gardening weather!
Perfect to enjoy the coffee/hot chocolate break outside!
We'll be keeping track on the progress at
Het Gazebo with one of our new mascots!
Thanks for a great days work everyone!
We'll be back here on the 13th of April!
join in the fun, frienship and hosta work day if you can!

Hosta master Class and Meeting!

A cold start to March! A snowy cold Friday! -4C this morning!
But that didn't keep Dutch Hosta Society members away....
It was time to get together at Wageningen University for the Hosta Master Class and AGM! Ah, coffee, a great selection of typical Dutch cookies, and friendly faces were a good way to start the day!
The first guest speaker was René Knoppert who shared with us his trials and discoveries when cross-breeding Hostas. There were quite a few oohs and aaaaahs through out the lecture hall when Hostas with great looks hit the screen!
Kees Hensen was our next guest speaker. He shared with us his experience about what it takes to become a member of the jury at the American Hosta Society's leaf show! That's serious business! Quite interesting indeed! Then it was time for lunch! Soup, sandwiches and more social Hosta conversation! There's a constant buzz in the air! It's great to see new faces and regulars that come back every year!
Then all back to the lecture hall for the Annual General Meeting which was accompanied by a great power point presentation! 2015 was a good year for the Dutch Hosta Society, 295 members strong!
Hosta Happy Hour rounded off the day! Plus, before we left, we were all treated to one of René Knoppert's newest Hostas! Hosta 'Silver light' Thanks René!
Next Hosta Activity....we're at Het Gazebo the 23rd of March! See you there!
