The 2021 weeding season at Het Gazebo winds down
with a warm bowl of soup and Dutch pancakes!
It tasted great ! " lekker ! "
The volunteers have really made a difference this year
with their weeekly visits to Het gazebo in Diepenheim!
The last weeds have been taken care of for this year !
We're looking forward to seeing you
back here, next year, in February 2022 !

After two rained out weeding Wednesdays at Het Gazebo
The volunteers were able to get together yesterday
and enjoy a bit of the mid October sunshine !
If....In preparation for hibernation, bears may eat
north of 40kg (90 lbs) of food per day.

It's September ! Updates from Het Gazebo !
A rainy Sunday afternoon didn't stop the Reopening garden party!
The second part of the programme was held at Het Gazebo
where the new sheltered picnic table
with memorial plaque for Frans de Steur was unveiled.
Compliments from the visitors! Het Gazebo made a great impression !
Thanks to all the volunteers !
After Sunday's garden party it was back to weeding Wednesday !
September ! The weeds seem to be slowing down :)
But is wasn't a slow day !
A photographer from the local paper Tubantia stopped by.
Must have heard about the garden party ?
And as a token of appreciation, Therese Mulkers
gave a signed work of art by Urbain Mulkers
to this great group of volunteers who have been
doing a wonderful job looking after Het Gazebo !

A dense fog advisory was issued this morning !
But there was a garden party to get ready for at Het Gazebo !
The sun soon cleared the fog and a late August day reached 20 C!
Het Gazebo is ready to welcome pre registered guests !

The volunteers are keeping up hosta appearances at Het gazebo !
Het Gazebo is sure looking good ! Growing great !
But like most hostas gardens, come mid August....
These guys are busy !
And the flowers have gone to seed !
But hosta grower know that next year they will be back !

So much to do at Het Gazebo !
This years rainy Dutch Summer is great for the garden
as well as the weeds !
What was weed free last week sure looked different today !
The ongoing supply of new hostas for Het Gazebo continues !
More hostas were planted in the " hosta nursery" to be
planted out later in other areas of this abstract leaf form !

Mid Summer at Het gazebo
It's Summer vacation in The Netherlands! 25 C in the middle of July.
Diepenheim was not effected by last weeks flooding.
We're 236 km north of Maastricht.
The volunteers were weeding around the Hostas in bloom !
Het Gazebo is looking great for the festive reopening garden party !
Just watch out when you stop and smell the hostas !

A perfect day in July to be at Het gazebo !
Around 20 C, sun, cloud, a light breeze !
Strawberries and cream are not only enjoyed at Wimbleton !
Strawberries & cream is a classic Wimbledon dessert ever since the tennis tournament started in 1877. Over the years the combination has got so popular that on average 10,000 litres of cream and 28,000 kg of strawberries are consumed every year during the two-week tournament!
The hostas are blooming beautifully at Het Gazebo !
A great month to visit !

Warmest June in 132 years !
June here in The Netherlands was wet,
sunny and the warmest in 132 years !
An overcast, dreary, high of 15 C today.
It's a good thing we can look back
over the last few blog posts and check
when we had those very warm days !
What a day to be weeding and splitting hostas!
It must have been quite a muddy day!
