A Summer Garden Tour..adapted !

After a few months of self isolation, social distancing and
other Covid 19 preventative measures, The Netherlands 
has relaxed as well as maintained a few of it's guidelines.
Then the invitation was sent out ! 
 Hans and Jacqueline hosted this year's Hosta garden tour !
 It's the Summer garden tour ...adapted !
1 garden, 3 time slots, small groups, lots of space!
preregistration...a lot to organise!
 There is so much to see!
 Hostas hostas hostas...300+ 


 a fun way to display mini's !
 Lot's of creative gardening ideas !
 Garden art !


 Good wood! 
 Makes for great backdrops !
 They have 4 chickens that do their fair share of gardening!
 and places to sit through out!
 comfy, cozy, all with great garden views!
 Did I mention all the other flowers!


 Hosta la vista!  50 people visited through out the day !
 enjoyed, bought hostas and plants and things....
And ! enjoyed the best Vlaai from Limburg !
Vlaai, also known as Limburgse vlaai, is a pie or tart consisting of a pastry and filling. Vlaai is usually 26—31 centimeters in diameter. It is a typical product from the province of Limburg 
and a few extra photo's!
Hosta La Vista in Klarenbeek!
The original farm dates back to 1906 !
But, from the 1980's it had fallen into disrepair.

it is a 2 years young garden with a bright hosta future!

A very warm day !

Volunteers were at Het Gazebo with parasol, hats and water!
A very warm and sunny day in The Netherlands!
Around 30+ C today, tomorrow and Friday!
Then that's when the Dutch weather centre announces it's  
Code Yellow !...persistent heat: National heat plan in effect

Het Gazebo...5 years on...

 
5 years ago a group of volunteers gathered in Diepenheim
 to see what could become of the hosta project Het Gazebo ! 
 That was then....
This is today !
Thanks to all the volunteers that have worked, weeded, helped out and sweated ! Took care of hostas and donated hostas! Thanks to those who have supported Het Gazebo financially and those who supplied the food and beverages ! Thank you for making  Het Gazebo in Diepenheim what it is today!

The Continuing story of Het Gazebo !

 The weekly get together of volunteers sure is making great progress at Het Gazebo in Diepenheim! Corona guidelines, the weather and bring your own picnic hasn't kept their spirits down!
Do you see the difference ? ! I sure can!
Look how big the weeded and looked after area has become!
Lots of new hostas! See that! Wow!

Weeding before the rain !

 The last week just few by !
Then the volunteers returned to Het Gazebo in Diepenheim !
Weeding and a warm dry day in early June !
You can really tell that this was one of the top 10 driest 
and the sunniest Spring since 1901 !
Thanks to the volunteers that keep this going !
Anybody have an idea as to what to do with .... 
The docks and sorrels, genus Rumex, are a genus of about 200 species of annual, biennial, and perennial herbs in the buckwheat family, Polygonaceae.

The AHS Journal !

 The latest AHS Journal arrived !
Looks like we can learn a few things here in The Netherlands !
This year we had the sunniest Spring on record !
That's going back to 1901 !
And one of the top 10 driest !
Enjoying the magazine as all Hosta open garden tours, 
Hosta Nursury days and Hosta related events 
have been cancelled or delayed.
